Pickup zones and times

Every tour collects from four zones: Duong Dong, Bai Truong, Bai Dai and An Thoi. This page puts all the pickup windows in one table, explains why they differ, and sets out what happens if you are outside a zone or the van is late.

Road times come from published guides: about 40 to 50 minutes from Duong Dong to An Thoi, 25 to 30 km or about 40 to 50 minutes from Duong Dong to Ganh Dau by car, and about 40 to 50 minutes from the airport to Bai Dai. The island is about 50 km long, so a hotel at one end and a pier at the other can mean an hour and a half in the van.

These are our planned windows, not exact times. The exact minute for your hotel is sent the evening before, when the passenger list is final and the order of the run is fixed. On a quiet day with two hotels on the list your pickup may be near the end of the window; on a full day, near the start.

Why the windows differ

The van runs towards the pier or the first stop. For the south islands, Bai Dai is collected first and An Thoi last; for the north road day, the reverse.
Bai Truong is long. A hotel at its northern end is close to town; one at the southern end is much nearer An Thoi. Your exact minute reflects which.
The squid boat changes pier. We choose the Duong Dong side or An Thoi by the sea state, so its windows come in two sets.
The prison closes at midday. The heritage half day is timed around the published opening hours, which sets its pickups.

Rules for the lobby

Be in the lobby, ready, at the start of your window. Have swimwear on for boat days.
The van waits five minutes past the exact time we send, then goes on to the next hotel.
If the van is more than 15 minutes past your exact time, contact us through the channel in your confirmation; do not book a taxi to the pier without checking.
Bring the booking name. The guide checks names against the passenger list at pickup and again at the pier.
Child seats: tell us in the form. We confirm whether the vehicle can take one; on join-in departures we cannot always guarantee it.

Hotels outside the four zones

Ong Lang, Cua Can, Ham Ninh and other areas between the zones are not on the regular run. On a join-in seat you can either meet the van at a hotel inside the nearest zone, or ask for a collection by arrangement, which may carry a surcharge and an earlier time. On a private tour we collect from anywhere on the island; the quote reflects the distance.

Ong Lang is about 80,000 VND by Grab from Duong Dong, according to a 2026 price guide, so meeting the van in town is often the simplest answer.

What the pickup does not include

Airport or Bai Vong ferry pickups on the way to a tour. Arrive the day before.
Stops at shops on the pickup run. The van goes from hotel to hotel to the pier or first stop.
Waiting longer than five minutes. Other guests are already in the van and the boat has a departure time.

If you are arriving on the island the same morning, a road tour afternoon departure, such as the heritage half day, is the only one that can work, and only with a hotel drop first.

Drop-off

Drop-off runs the zones in reverse. On boat days that means Bai Dai guests are last, up to about 19:00 after the south islands day. On the north road day An Thoi guests are last, around 17:50 to 18:20. If you need to be back by a fixed time, tell us in the form; on a private tour we plan around it.

Questions travellers ask most

Why can't you give me an exact pickup time now?

Because the order of the run depends on which hotels are on the list for that date. The window holds; the exact minute arrives the evening before.

My hotel is on the border of two zones. Which applies?

The one we confirm in the quote. Give the hotel's full name and we place it.

Can we be dropped somewhere other than our hotel?

On a private tour, yes, within reason. On a join-in seat, drop-off is at hotels on the run; Sunset Town is offered for cable car guests on the south islands day.
