Day tour prices: ranges, parts, variables

We quote each tour per date and party size, so this page does not show our own price list. It shows what comparable day trips cost on the island according to published sources, what a quote from us contains, and the handful of things that move the number.

These are typical market ranges from travel agencies and guides, not our prices. They are useful for spotting a quote that is far out in either direction. Listings change often, and the cheapest group prices usually leave out things our quotes include, such as the cable car or lunch, or the reverse.

Every quote comes back as one number per party for the date you ask about, with the inclusions listed line by line and the pickup window for your hotel. If your plans change by more than a day or two, ask for a new quote rather than assuming the old one still holds.

A quote from us is built from these parts. We show you the total, not our costs, but we tell you which parts are in it, so you can compare like with like.

What moves the price, biggest first

Join-in or private. A private boat or vehicle costs the same whether two or eight people use it, so per person it falls fast as the party grows.
Party size. On join-in, children are priced separately from adults; on private, the size of the vehicle or boat steps up at certain numbers.
Pickup zone. Bai Dai to An Thoi is two road legs of about 40 to 50 minutes each; An Thoi to An Thoi is a short local run. Distance shows up in the van cost.
Add-ons. The Hon Thom cable car and park ticket (about 850,000 VND adult, published May 2026) or the Vinpearl Safari ticket (950,000 VND adult, published Dec 2025) can be larger than the tour itself.
Date. December to April is the busy season for boats; holidays add demand.

What is not included, and why

Third-party tickets by default. Many guests already hold a Sun World or Vinpearl ticket from their hotel package. We add them on request, at the published price.
Travel insurance. You should hold a policy that covers boat trips and snorkelling; we do not sell insurance.
Drinks other than water. Beer on the squid boat and soft drinks at lunch vary too much to price in.
Tips. Optional, and better given directly to the crew, driver or guide.

How cheap quotes get cheap

When a day tour is quoted well below the ranges above, it is usually for one of these reasons. None of them is illegal, and some are fine if you know about them.

The cable car or the park ticket is "available" rather than included, and costs about 850,000 VND extra on the day.
Lunch is a basic set, with seafood charged by the dish on the island.
A shopping stop is built into the morning run; island-tour pickups often stop at a pearl centre on Long Beach.
The boat is an older enclosed-cabin canoe rather than an open speedboat; the provincial tourism department asked for a review of whether such boats suit island tours.
The group is much bigger than the boat looks in photos, or the pickup run covers every hotel on the island.

Questions travellers ask most

Why might your quote be higher than another one?

Compare the inclusions line by line. Our boat quotes include lunch, snorkel gear, the pickup run and a capped group on a registered open speedboat. A lower price often leaves out the cable car, upgrades lunch at extra cost, or adds a shopping stop. If the inclusions match and ours is still higher, tell us.

Do you charge in VND or USD?

The currency is stated on your written quote. Market prices on this site are in VND, as published by their sources.

Are children cheaper?

On join-in seats, yes; children are priced separately. Third-party tickets use their own height bands, for example under 1 m free at the Hon Thom park and Vinpearl Safari in the published prices.

Can I get a price without giving a date?

We can give an indication, but the firm price depends on the date, because boat demand and availability change by season.
